Bourbon Cousins™ creates custom silk design for 2018 Woodford Reserve $1000 Mint Julep Cup initiative
CINCINNATI, OH – April 12, 2018 – Two women, native to Louisville and co-founders of Bourbon Cousins, a Cincinnati-based pattern design firm specializing in bourbon-themed products for bourbon enthusiasts, is pleased to announce its silk design was selected for the 2018 Woodford Reserve $1000 Mint Julep Cup sale.
Each $1000 silver julep cup or $2500 gold-plated cup is presented in a special wooden box, lined with custom designed silk. Bourbon Cousins designed the custom silk pattern for Woodford Reserve. The motif highlighting 3 traditional Derby elements: the rose, the racehorse, and the twin spires, are repeated within the design, among encircled Woodford Reserve bottle silhouettes – inspired by the winner’s circle and Woodford Reserve’s inaugural year as the Presenting Sponsor of the 144th Kentucky Derby. The colors coordinate with those on the neck label of the 2018 Woodford Reserve Derby edition bourbon bottles.
“We’re pleased Woodford Reserve included our originally-designed silk fabric in this year’s 2018 Mint Julep Cup box,” said Houston. “We enjoy collaborating with distilleries, as well as large groups looking to host bourbon-themed events and fundraisers.”
Pam Houston and Claudia Sandman are the cousins behind Bourbon Cousins. Both founders and designers are from Louisville, KY, are members of The Bourbon Women Association, and are enjoying their “2nd career” designing products around what they love: Bourbon! Their debut line of men’s bourbon bow ties and bourbon neckties are modern, refined, and available on their website.
Each year, Woodford Reserve selects a charitable organization to receive the net proceeds from the $1000 Mint Julep Cups sold at the Kentucky Derby®. The Jennifer Lawrence Fund will be the beneficiary and receive the net proceeds from this year’s sale. Bourbon Cousins also provided Woodford Reserve with matching pocket squares, scarves and novelty bow ties showcasing the pattern design.
